Frequently Asked questions about life coaching
Q1. What can a professional coach do for me?
A professional coach is somebody who will support you to get from where you are now to where you want to be in your life.
Q2.How do you do that?
We will work together and explore your life situation as it is now and look at other options that can get you the life you really want. My techniques are rooted in the practice of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Personal Development work.
Q3. How will my coach help me to take action?
You will be provided with your personal planner including charts, exercises and all the information you need to help you work on the changes you seek. I will encourage, support and provide you with accountability for your actions using these tools and skills.
Q4. Will I have to do things that I feel uncomfortable about?
Of course not, coaching is about you and you make all the decisions, whilst I encourage and support you along the way helping to explore new ways of doing things.
Q5. How is coaching different from therapy?
The main difference between coaching and counselling is that coaching is very future-focused. Coaches are not therapists and they don't work on deep-rooted psychological problems with their clients. They will only look back at a client’s past briefly, if and when it interferes with their progress towards their goals, whereas counsellors tend to focus on resolving issues from the past.
Q6. How long do the coaching sessions last?
A coaching session will last approximately 1 hour.
Q7. How often can you have the coaching sessions?
Ideally once a week.
Q8. How many sessions will I need?
This varies from person to person. I generally find that a minimum of eight weekly sessions with fortnightly or monthly follow ups, works for most people. However, we can do sessions monthly if you so wish. I have regular reviews with my clients to ensure that the coaching is useful and productive.
Q9. Can I stop at any time?
Yes, you can stop at any time, it is your decision. It is generally best if the ending is discussed and planned for.
Q10. How much does the coaching session cost?
Each session will cost £40.00.
Q11. Are the coaching sessions confidential?
Yes, in order for you to gain the maximum benefit from the coaching sessions you must be honest with both yourself and with me the coach. When the session has ended the information discussed is kept completely confidential.
Q12. What topics would we cover?
We will look at all areas of your life including health, work, relationships, confidence levels, friends, family and leisure. My coaching sessions are holistic.
Life coaching is often seen as a partnership between you and your coach, in which your coach will encourage you to explore how to make positive changes in your life. A coach will offer support and feedback, and help you to stay focused on your goals.
